Welcome to Collins Psychotherapy, Inc.
Hi, I’m Marie — a licensed therapist based in Towson, Maryland, and founder of Collins Psychotherapy, Inc. I started my private practice in 2022 with the belief that healing and growth flourish in a space rooted in self-exploration, compassion, and trust.
Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just ready for change, I'm here to support your needs.
I offer individual therapy services for teens and adults. I am particularly passionate in supporting those navigating the following:
Anxiety & Stress
Management
Emotion Dysregulation
Building & Maintaining
Healthy Boundaries
Substance Use/Abuse
Life Transitions
Relationship
Conflict

These areas are close to my heart, and I find deep meaning in helping clients build resilience, clarity, and skillfulness in these spaces.
I'm glad you're here, let's start your growth journey today!
HOW TO START THERAPY
-
I will contact you within 24 business hours to set up a free, 15-min phone consultation. Click here to start inquiry!
-
Finding the right therapist is crucial, if we’re the right fit we’ll continue with a 60 min assessment. We will go through many questions so I can better understand your therapy needs and goals.
This is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and more about my therapy style. In order to be thorough, this process can take up the duration of two sessions.I want to acknowledge that this is a vulnerable process, so thank you in advance for showing up with courage and trusting me with your care.
-
Once a treatment plan has been established, we will begin the journey of meeting your treatment plan goals through consistent individual therapy sessions.
I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions which last 45-60 minutes in duration, depending on insurance coverage, tapering down in frequency based on treatment progress and/or client preference.
Additional Services
Clinical Supervision
In addition to individual therapy services, I also provide clinical supervision for LGPCs working toward licensure. I hope you'll take some time to explore my site and learn more about how we can work together!

I’m the co-founder of The Mindful Collective, LLC—a shared office space designed for therapists in private practice, offering both short-term and long-term leasing options. If you’re a local practitioner looking for space to grow your practice, we invite you to explore our leasing opportunities.

If you're using insurance, a diagnosis is required for them to cover services. That said, I understand that being given a diagnosis can sometimes feel like labeling or like you're being put in a box—and I take that seriously. My goal is never to define you by a label, but to understand your experience in a way that helps guide treatment and support.
It's also possible that you may not meet the full criteria for a diagnosis. If that’s the case, we can still explore your concerns together and focus on your goals for growth and healing, regardless of a formal diagnosis.
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person and largely depends on your unique goals, needs, and what you’re hoping to get out of the process. Some clients come to therapy with a specific issue or transition they want support with. In these cases, short-term therapy (about 3 to 6 months) may be enough to create meaningful change.
Others may find that deeper, long-standing patterns take more time and benefit from ongoing work (6 months or longer). Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll regularly check in to assess your progress, revisit your goals, and make sure the work we’re doing continues to feel helpful and aligned with what you need.
Ultimately, you are in control of your therapy journey. Some clients choose to stay in therapy for maintenance or personal growth, even after their initial concerns have improved. We’ll work together to determine what pace and duration feel right for you. -
When needed, especially around safety concerns, I do involve parents. I also believe it's important for teens to have a space that feels truly their own. Therapy works best when they feel safe, heard, and not under pressure. I’ll always encourage healthy family communication and, when something important comes up, I’ll help your teen feel supported in bringing you in with their consent.
-
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations may incur a fee or strike. If you have Medicaid insurance, no show and cancellation fees are not allowed, so a strike system is in place. This is something we will discuss at length at the time of the phone consultation.
Collins Psychotherapy Mission
My mission is to offer a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where trust, compassion, and self-discovery guide the process. Together, we’ll build insight, grow emotional resilience, and nurture your overall well-being—with skillful, personalized support every step of the way.
